Growth Of The Child

Not much has changed.

I am Marita Chustak, an artist. This is who I am and who I have been since I was born. The context and skill-sets have changed, but fundamentally, I am doing nothing now that I was not doing twenty years ago. This piece really explores that aspect of identity. When I was a very small child, I made a very small replica of myself to play with. Then, I used wood, crayons, and markers. Fast forward some sixteen years and I am here, doing the same thing. The only difference is that this time I am in college, using the technology available to me at the TIMI lab and the skills I have learned throughout the years to create a little figurine of myself. In this piece, I have the two dolls side-by-side. The viewers can decide for themselves how great the distance between my two self-representatives really is.
