India Ink Fruit

This assignment was actually a struggle for me. I was having a difficult time pulling my head into it, and getting into a place of authentic focus and concentration while I was working on it.

The bottom two images were the last I painted, and I think that these two had the strongest process behind them. What made these two images different from the rest in terms of the energy and focus I was able to put into them was that they were both variations of cherries. I hate cherries.

Instead of my frustrations, fears, pains, and exhaustion pulling my concentration away from my art, by choosing to pull my focus in on depicting something I find really distasteful, I was able to channel all of what was going on in my personal life into the process, and therefore give the process a fuller amount of my attention.
