I wanted each tile to be intimate and accessible and to a certain extent isolated- much like the intimacies within a person’s heart- and so chose to work with 4×4 inch mirrors. With each tile less brain and more reflection became visible. This offered much room for symbolic interpretation, whether you choose to read it from left to right or right to left, whether it is about inherent loss or discovery or a mixture of both. The prints pull from a color palate I derived from a photograph of open heart surgery.
