If you have dug through my website a bit, you will likely recognize this self portrait that I did in high school. But for this project, the subject matter wasn’t really that important- it was the blend of technology and craft that I wanted to focus on.
I took the original image that I made in high school, and using a laser engraver, transferred the image onto copper plating. I then inked up the plate and printed it using traditional printmaking methods.
One of the funnest things for me about the traditional methods, though it is unorthodox, is the ability to play around with the wiping process to make unique mono-prints that each have their own character. You can see that in the versions above.
