‘Planet Nose’ was the code name of this project for most of the time I was working on it. It started off with a series of close-up photographs I had taken. After organizing them (Nose I, Nose II, Nose III, Toenail I, Sticky Note I, etc.) I abandoned them.
Fast forward a month or two and I pulled them back up. As I was looking through them, I began to realize that “Nose II” looked like a planet. I used computer software to create a variation of the image that looked even more like some sort of craterous planet or moon, and then began to play around with other distortions of the image.
I played around with some design-oriented vertical adaptations of the close-up series, and that sparked my interest in the concept of building something out of these image components.
That is how this eerie archway and path were born.
If you would like a copy of this image or any in this series, contact me and I can make that available to you.
